A Care-First Postpartum Gift Guide, According to Kacee
No one understands the power of community and care quite like Kacee. As the founder of Citizen Yoga’s devoted community and the creator of Fourth Trimester Sanctuary —Detroit’s first-of-its-kind postpartum day retreat—she has spent years holding space for people during life’s most tender transitions. We tapped her as a resident expert to share the gifts that truly make someone feel cared for in their fourth trimester.

- Brest Friend Pillow: As a first time mom, it was so difficult learning how to hold a baby with the proper latch. It can be so painful; but the support of this pillow gave my shoulders a break and my nipple.
- Month Pass at Fourth Tri for Movement and Recovery: Taking care of myself and baby always felt like such a choice, but being at Fourth Tri, I could move my body, take a shower and get a massage while spending time with my newborn. If I was doing something, I knew that they were being taken care of by real professionals and I did not have to stress about managing timing for nursing and napping. It was all so easy.
- An oversized cardigan for cozy warmth between nursing sessions: Welcoming guests is one of the best times of having a newborn, but it is great to have an easy way to cover up while nursing or staying cozy when napping.
- Photo session at Fourth Tri so that I didn't have to organize my house; but I got great photos of my little baby with me after I took a shower
- Slipper socks: I could keep these on while sitting on the couch and I had a January baby so being at home and cozy was the vibe for while.
Honestly, time with a trusted friend to just sit while I was alone at my house was the best gift. I just would make a list of who I felt comfortable and relaxed with and would ask them to come over.
