Chiyo for Generations
Chiyo for Generations is our social impact and advocacy division, aiming to build generational health by prioritizing the mother through investing in research, education, and activism.
Chiyo means "A Thousand Generations."
Let's build the future, together.
Raising the bar
At Chiyo our mission is to advance maternal care practices through evidence-based, holistic nutrition. We are focused on building a better food system and making nutritious food more accessible and affordable, along with our rigorous nutrition and sourcing standards.
Everything we do is rooted in support for women, mothers, and their families.
Women deserve more.
For too long, women’s health has been sidelined. Gaps in medical research have left women, particularly those of reproductive age, underrepresented and underserved.
We are committed to building better options. Women’s health is a complex, multifaceted issue, and the solutions need to reflect that complexity.
We believe in an approach that doesn’t just focus on isolated symptoms, but embraces the full spectrum of a woman’s experience — from the way hormones influence the body, to how nutrition and communal support can be tools for health promotion throughout the journey of motherhood.
We aim to empower every woman to take charge of her health and redefine what’s possible for her body, her family, and her future.
Generational health is the heart of our mission.
Our Pillars
Food is medicine
We believe that food can be used as a powerful form of natural medicine. Our food blends traditional wisdom with modern science, featuring high-quality, fresh ingredients in meals designed to nourish the body and soul, and backed by sound science.
Empowerment
We clarify the complexities of maternal health, offering accessible education and advocacy that amplifies the voices of mothers, enabling informed and confident decisions. We're advocating for systemic policy change to ensure that all women can access adequate maternal care.
Access
We are building toward a future where women have answers and nutrition solutions for each health stage and symptom, reimbursed and accessible to all. We believe maternal care is a human right — not a privilege. That's why we're partnering with grassroots community organizations and leading nonprofits, and providing free resources for women in need.
For the future
We support generational health through environmentally conscious practices that will help ensure a safe and beautiful world for our children. That means prioritizing recyclable and compostable materials, opting for sustainably & ethically sourced foods, and reducing waste in our kitchen facility, and we continue to hold ourselves accountable to higher standards as we scale.
Our Impact
Nourishing Community
This year, we donated more than 1,200 meals & snacks to our women’s health & advocacy partners, like Mama Glow and Chamber of Mothers, to support their community-building and educational events.
Advocacy Partners
We amplify our impact by partnering with nonprofits and advocacy groups to raise the standard of maternal care in the U.S. and promote more equitable policies.
The Chiyo Collective
We’re building a network of values-aligned women’s health practitioners in communities around the country — to make nutritional interventions the norm in women’s health. We provide integrative nutrition education to help these providers to create maximal impact for patients.
Educational Resources for Women
We want to empower women with the knowledge they need to take control of their health. Our resources bridge the gap between complex scientific research and accessible, practical nutrition advice — making it easier for women to confidently address their unique health concerns.
That’s why we offer free monthly nutrition workshops, led by our expert Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. These workshops provide evidence-based, actionable nutrition strategies tailored to preconception and postpartum health.
We publish in-depth, evidence-based guides on our blog Rooted, covering essential women’s health topics such as Managing PCOS, Preparing for IVF, and the Postpartum Depression Guide. Every article undergoes a thorough clinical review process to ensure the highest level of accuracy.
Research
At Chiyo, we are focused on addressing a critical research gap in how nutrition impacts maternal health across biological, psychological, and social domains during key life transitions, including preconception, prenatal, and postpartum stages. Learn more about our research initiatives here.
We are conducting both internal and partnership studies to explore how nutrition can complement other forms of maternal care, tracking essential health indicators over time to study the power of evidence-based, holistic nutrition in supporting maternal health.
In partnership with TinyHealth, we are exploring the effects of nutrition on the gut microbiome during pregnancy, aiming to understand its role in influencing maternal health outcomes like mental health, physical symptoms, and fatigue.
Our resources bridge the gap between complex scientific research and accessible, practical nutrition advice — making it easier for women to confidently address their unique health concerns.
Nutrition Standards
We are committed to setting new standards in women's nutrition. Our innovative R&D process combines cutting-edge science with a deep understanding of hormone health, creating personalized programs that address the unique nutritional needs of women at every stage of life.
Unlike traditional approaches, we focus on balancing hormones and protecting against inflammation, oxidative stress, and endocrine disruptors — factors that are often overlooked but play a crucial role in overall health. Our mission is to provide solutions that not only nourish, but empower women to thrive, by prioritizing their hormonal wellbeing in every product we offer.
