From One Tree Hill to Venture Capital, Sophia Bush Is Making Power Moves | ELLE
In an interview with ELLE, Sophia Bush discusses her evolution from actress to activist and investor, highlighting her commitment to supporting women's health initiatives.

Sophia Bush, widely recognized for her role as Brooke Davis on "One Tree Hill," has expanded her career beyond acting into activism and venture capital. She co-hosts the "Drama Queens" podcast, revisiting her experiences on the show and addressing both its positive moments and challenges. Bush emphasizes the importance of creating equitable power dynamics in the workplace, drawing from her early career experiences. She states, "If you can begin to shift how you use your relative power and try to create more of it, workplaces get better."
In collaboration with her best friend and partner, Nia Batts, Bush has been involved in angel investing for over 15 years, focusing on ventures that aim to make a positive impact. One notable investment is in Chiyo!
Bush explains, "When Nia was pregnant with her son, we really started to look at the landscape of what maternal mortality looks like, of what mothers are going through." She continues, "When we met Irene [Liu, founder of Chiyo], we started to learn about her work and how we can be supporting mothers and families in this holistic way that's also so education-based." Bush underscores the significance of accessible maternal care, stating, "To help make affordable nutrition care accessible to all women feels important to us, because maternal care should be a human right. It's not supposed to be a privilege."
